The Middle East is an area where cars and truck is king and fuel is cheap, frequently leaving little incentive to find more environmentally-friendly ways of moving around.

But this year, as protests throughout the Middle East have pressed up the cost of oil, the concern of discovering alternative sources of fuel has entered sharp focus.

In an area that has among the highest carbon footprints on the planet, one company is making the most of the growing pressure to find alternatives to oil. It's set up the Middle East's very first scheme to recycle cooking oil into biodiesel. It's proving profitable too, currently their client-list contains McDonald's.
